Highly Erodible Land and Wetland Conservation Compliance

Most USDA programs require landowners and/or operators to comply with the Highly Erodible Land and Wetland Conservation provisions of the Food Security Act of 1985, which link program eligibility to farming practices designed to protect wetlands and to protect highly erodible land from excessive soil erosion. These fact sheets provide the objectives of compliance.

The first fact sheet is a brief overview of requirements for compliance prepared by the Massachusetts USDA NRCS office.

The second fact sheet is a detailed explanation of requirements prepared by the national USDA office.
