Georgia House Bill 976 (2022)

A BILL to be entitled an Act to amend Title 2 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated relating to agriculture so as to establish the Black Farmer Restoration Office; to provide definitions; to establish and provide requirements for the Farm Conservation Corps; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

This bill would create the Black Farmer Restoration Office within the Department of Agriculture to support current Black farmers and to encourage the growth of Black farmers in agriculture. This office would administer a new Farm Conservation Corps to provide young residents from socially disadvantaged groups training to pursue careers in agriculture as on-farm apprentices.
