Vermont Senate Bill 226 (2022)

An act relating to expanding access to safe and affordable housing

This bill proposes several programs aimed at increasing the supply of affordable housing, promoting homeownership, and expanding housing opportunities. One section of the bill would create the Vermont Land Access and Opportunity Board. This board would be comprised of members of historically marginalized or disadvantaged communities and would be tasked with promoting access to woodlands, farmland, and land ownership for these communities. The board can distribute grants to community-based groups and individuals to improve land access and ownership. The newly created board will be attached to the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board for administrative purposes.
