An act to amend the agriculture and markets law and the economic development law, in relation to locally grown farm and food products and codifying the New York state council on food policy
This bill, known as the “Local Food, Farms, and Jobs Act”, would establish the New York State Council on Food Policy to develop comprehensive, coordinated state food policies, including those that support farmers, ensure access to healthy foods for residents, and facilitate the use of public lands for growing farm products, among other responsibilities.
It would also allow farms on the Dept. of Agriculture and Market’s directory of farms and farm products to indicate if they are interested in supplying schools.
