Solar Development on New York Farmland: Assessing Trends and Advancing Research for Smart Solar℠

New York is at the forefront of an energy transition with the passage of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and clean energy targets now set in state law. Solar is scaling up, and we have an important opportunity to make sure it’s done in a way that protects land well-suited for agriculture and strengthens farm viability. On January 11, 2023 American Farmland Trust held an interactive webinar on approaching this challenge by advancing Smart Solar℠ principles, along with cutting edge research being led by Cornell University and its Sustainable Solar initiative. This webinar is intended to inform farmers, farm advisors and others interested in the future of New York farmland on the trends and research related to New York solar on farmland.
