Maryland Comprehensive Land Use Planning Statutes

These statutes contain Maryland’s state and local comprehensive planning laws.

The Land Use Article of Maryland’s statutes provides the standards for local planning and zoning. The requirements for local comprehensive plans are found in Title 3 of this article.

Under the State Finance and Procurement article of Maryland’s statutes, the Department of Planning is directed to prepare a State Development Plan for the future growth of the state. This article also sets forth Maryland’s “State Economic Growth, Resource Protection, and Planning Policy”.
