AN ACT concerning Natural Resources – Land Conservation – Establishment of Goals and Programs (Maryland the Beautiful Act)

This bill would establish the Local Land Trust Revolving Loan Program, administered by the Maryland Environmental Trust, to provide loans to land trusts to purchase land. It would also establish a Land Preservation Rapid Response Advisory Committee to review loan applications for the new revolving loan program and make recommendations on which projects to fund. It directs the Governor to appropriate $10,000,000 in the FY24 budget for the fund. It also sets statewide goals for land conservation by certain timelines.
