New York Senate Bill 3583 (2022)

An act to amend the urban development corporation act, in relation to the beginning farmers NY fund

This bill would have updated the New Farmers Grant Fund Program, which is not currently active. This program provided grants to cover machinery, equipment, construction, and improvement costs for beginning farmers. This bill would have expanded eligibility for this program by removing the $10,000 minimum agricultural sales threshold and establishing award tiers to accommodate smaller awards. It would have also allowed grants under $5,000 to be provided before project completion and allowed farmers on leased land to participate.
