Oregon Comprehensive Land Use Planning Statutes

Land use planning policies manage growth from real estate development and stabilize the land base. Most states delegate planning authority to local governments and some make local land use planning a requirement.

Oregon has statutes in place that require land use planning at the local level and require local plans to be consistent with the state-wide land use plan. These statutes also implement Urban Growth Boundaries (UGB) that contain development within designated areas to limit sprawl.
