Wisconsin Assembly Bill 797/Senate Bill 776 (2022)

An Act to create 20.115 (7) (cm) and 93.60 of the statutes; Relating to: creating a grant program for farmers who use certain sustainable practices granting rule-making authority and making an appropriation. (FE)

This bill would require the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection to create a sustainable agriculture grant program which will award farmers for: implementing energy-efficiency measures; planting buffer vegetation; implementing carbon sequestering measures; or developing a conservation plan for minimizing or sequestering carbon. Farmers who are eligible for other state conservation programs must have applied to those first in order to receive money from this grant.
