Guide to ACEP-ALE for Heirs’ Property Landowners

This guide is meant to help heirs’ property landowners participate in the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program – Agricultural Land Easements component (ACEP-ALE). It can inform conversations with family members and land protection professionals who may work with heirs’ property landowners to protect their land and their family’s legacy. The guide describes what heirs’ property is and highlights opportunities for participating in the United States Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service programs, including ACEP-ALE. It lists key considerations and provides examples of how to use the program to achieve goals. The guide ends with steps for getting started and organizations and resources that can support heirs’ property landowners.
