Rhode Island’s Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) manages a buy-protect-sell program, known as the Farmland Access Program, in which the state purchases farmland from willing sellers, protects it, and then affordably sells it to qualified farmers. This document lists the criteria RIDEM will consider when selecting to whom they will sell the protected land.
