This model ordinance template for solar energy zoning and taxation was developed by the Rhode Island Dept. of Administration, Division of Statewide Planning, and the Office of Energy Resources. It is meant to be voluntary guidance for municipalities considering solar energy systems in Rhode Island. The model language includes provisions for maintaining agricultural viability.
