Agrivoltaics in Colorado: Findings from the First Statewide Survey of the Agricultural Community

With over 300 sunny days a year, Colorado has tremendous potential for solar energy development. As solar grows, so do the challenges and opportunities for farmers, ranchers, and landowners. To better understand their perspectives, American Farmland Trust spent six months engaging with Colorado’s agricultural community. Through a state-wide survey, several in-person events, and numerous one-on-one conversations, AFT heard from hundreds of community members. AFT hosted a webinar to share the results from the first-ever survey that documented how Colorado farmers, ranchers, and landowners feel about agrivoltaic solar energy development in the state.

Webinar speakers Include:

  • Kristen Boysen, Managing Director of the Agricultural Drought & Climate Resilience Office, Colorado Department of Agriculture
  • Austin Kinzer, Senior Agrivoltaics Technical Specialist, American Farmland Trust
  • Thomas Hickey, AgriSolar Consulting
