Calvert County, MD: Agricultural Zoning Ordinances

Calvert County, Maryland’s zoning ordinances include a Farm and Forest District (FFD) as well as an Agricultural Preservation Overlay District (APD).

The Farm and Forest District is intended to protect and promote prime farming regions in the area. The Agricultural Preservation Districts are part of the state’s Agricultural Land Preservation Program and are meant to incentivize and compensate landowners who voluntarily agree to place agricultural easements on the land. The overlay district also acts as a source of development rights for the transfer of development rights districts.
