Massachusetts APR Program Guidelines – Requesting Approval to Construct a Ground Mounted Renewable Energy System

An Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR) perpetually protects agricultural lands by prohibiting activities or uses which may be detrimental to the agricultural viability and water or soil conservation of the land.

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources may grant a Certificate of Approval to construct an agriculturally related structure, including a Ground Mounted Renewable Energy System (RES) on an APR. This document provides guidelines to requesting a Certificate of Approval.
