Working with Diverse Owners and Operators

AFT’s Soil Health Stewards Program is a national effort to engage and support agricultural land protection practitioners in promoting soil health practices with the farmers, ranchers, and others who own and manage permanently protected agricultural land.

Launched in 2021, this program provides unique learning opportunities and support for staff of land conservation organizations and public PACE programs across the nation. Videos from virtual trainings are offered in this Soil Health Steward Toolkit for those interested in studying the benefits of promoting soil health practices on protected agricultural land.

The purpose of this session is to deepen the understanding of issues specific to certain landowners and producers including non-operating landowners; Black, Indigenous and People of Color landowners and producers, women landowners and producers and operators with insecure land tenure.
