This report looks at trends in Kentucky’s agricultural sector, using 2019 data to determine the market value for the state’s agricultural products and the economic multipliers for agricultural industries. From this, the total effect of agriculture on Kentucky’s economy is estimated. The report concludes that despite a reduction in farmland acreage, the impact of agriculture on the state’s economy increased by 8.8% between 2012 to 2017. Overall, Kentucky agriculture accounted for about $9.7 billion in output, over 122,000 jobs, and over $3 billion in labor income in 2019.
