Farms Under Threat 2040: Solar Modeling Reports

These two reports provide information about American Farmland Trust’s Farms Under Threat 2040 solar modeling.

The FUT2040 report, Potential Placement of Utility-scale Solar Installations on Agricultural Lands in the U.S., covers the results of AFT’s solar modeling in the context of a multitude of research efforts underway that observe and seek to minimize potential impacts of utility solar installations on farmlands and ranchlands. Even the very conservative estimate of future solar demand used by AFT shows that the impact of solar development on U.S. agricultural lands could be significant without good planning and effect permitting processes.

The FUT 2040 Solar Technical Report provides the technical documentation to support the methods, results and key data products for the future solar modeling developed for American Farmland Trust’s Farms Under Threat initiative.
