American Farmland Trust’s Land Transfer Training is designed for practitioners to help farmers or ranchers and agricultural landowners plan for a farm or ranch transition.
Assess Your Financial Situation and Build Your Team is the second of five modules in the training. It enables participants to assess their current financial position and future needs along with the position and needs of other parties to inform conversations about their farm or ranch transfer. It will help them estimate the value of the tangible and intangible assets being acquired or transferred and introduce business terms and financial statements and tools. Lastly, this unit will identify key professional services that can support incoming farmers and ranchers and exiting owners during the transfer process.
Each module includes materials for practitioners – a teaching plan, student learning plan and a PowerPoint presentation with presenter notes. Modules also include learning materials that practitioners can share with farmers or ranchers and landowners.
